Hello! My Name is Susan and I'd  like to welcome you  to the Vengrey's Pembroke Welsh Corgi Website! Thank you for coming to see us and I hope you enjoy your visit!

Being a Country girl myself, I have been around all sorts of animals  from Cows, horses,  cats, dogs, rabbits, goats and Mink since I was a little girl.  I was very involve in the 4-H  program when I was younger starting at  8th grade until graduation. I  raised  and showed rabbits, and Nubian Goats.  Living on the ranch, and dealing with live animals I learned about  life and sadly death too.   And there, is where  I found my love for dogs.  I have to credit my dad  for introducing me to the greatest passion I have in life.   It all started with my first dog Flipper, who was a blue tick Coon hound. My father used to raise Coon hounds also,  And that is something my father and I shared together. Of Course,  I have had several breeds since my beloved Flipper, including German Shepherds, Dobermans,  And Cocker Spaniels. But I found my true love  lies within in the Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

Well it all started  Back in 1980's.  I was first introduced to the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, by a  breeder who had some wonderful red/whites.  Well after seeing that adorable ball of fluff that had personalities to die for, I made up my mind right then and there that I wanted one. So the Journey began. I started my research by contacting breeders, watching dog shows, researching pedigrees and studying their temperament and structure.  Within the years of building friendship between breeders, we were  finally confident enough  to purchase our first Pembroke.   Her name was Patience, also known as Chamberlands Trying our Patience.  After awhile  I wanted to broaden my horizon, so I started looking into European lines, and was so impressed, that I started to reach out to some reputable breeders in Europe and we finally went international and purchased our boy Nathan.  The Pembrokes have since dominated my  existence as I am happily owned and ruled by my corgi kids today.

Anyone who has had the pleasure of living with  a Pembroke Corgi can tell you this is a breed that is fun, happy, loyal and smart.  They're extremely lovable  so you can't help but be enamored  by them! Their  sweet temperament , their wonderful disposition  makes them totally irresistible, so if one hasn't capture your heart  yet, Just Wait, it will, given the chance! I often ask myself , how anyone can NOT love a  Corgi??? The answer...... they clearly haven't had the honor of meeting one!

Speaking for myself, my purpose behind breeding the few litters  that I do is to produce  sound , healthy dogs that have the true Corgi temperament as described by the American Kennel Club.  I am not a commercial breeder, My dogs are the love of my life.

I believe the Pembroke Welsh Corgi should be a devoted, loving and biddable companion, So I strive to breed a versatile, dual-purpose dog, that is willing to please, who is graceful and beautiful to the eye. Sound and Healthy, loving, gentle and being a great companion.

My breeding Program is intended for the betterment of the breed.  So here at Vengrey, temperament, soundness, health and longevity has always been our highest priority ! So I generally import European dogs into our pedigrees. So that I can combine the best possible genetics to provide for my future generation.

The Essence of Vengrey has been and always will be to combine the "classic looks" of the Champion past, with the Contemporary style of today's overall performer.  I believe the goals I've set for myself and for my breeding program best represent  what is true to my heart and the Pembroke Corgi breed.

I understand the importance of getting a healthy dog  from a  breeder that does all the proper clearances before producing a litter. Granted, there are no absolute guarantees on how a pup will turn out as an adult.

As to many factors play into genetics that still elude us, and so much depends on what the dog is fed and how it's raised.  Take the time to find a good "hobby breeder" that has  the clearances on their dogs, as not everyone  is breeding for the betterment of the breed.

Also, please research the pro's and con's  of this breed in depth before purchasing  a Pembroke Welsh Corgi as it is a life time commitment which shouldn't be taken lightly.

So I hope this has given you a glimpse of who I am and how much I love my kids.  Please feel free to write me with any questions you may have and thank you for stopping by!

Warmest regards,

Susan
